Queens Jubilee Walk- Smeeton Road Park
New Path for the Queens Jubilee Walk in Smeeton Road Recreation Area
Ground works to the long awaited Queens Walk will commence on 22nd May and is expected to continue until 9th June 2023.
This will involve the installation of a bound gravel path, which will run along the left hand side of the park (from the tennis court end) and then across the top end along the public right of way, to join up with the existing tarmac path installed last year.
The Queens Jubilee Walk Project will involve the planting of mature trees in the park in the Autumn to create a woodland style walk, and we will be helping to increase the biodiversity of the area by installing bug hotels, hedgehog houses, and bird houses.
Later in the year there will also be an Armillary Sundial and new seating installed, including commemorative benches, one for the Platinum Jubilee and also one in memory of Fred, who spent many hours sitting in the park.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause, please contact the Parish Council if you have any queries:
