Network Rail Information Event

We have been advised by Network Rail that they are hosting an information event regarding the continued programme to electrify the Midland Main Line.

As part of this ongoing upgrade, Network Rail need to carry out vegetation management, bridge work, piling and the installation of overhead line equipment which will include masts, steel work and wiring.

Please be advised, that the School Road Bridge is due to close in June 2023 and will not re-open until around January 2024.

Currently, there are no plans in place to build a temporary foot bridge but instead, a diversion route along Church Road is being proposed. At the Parish meeting on 26 April, KBPC resolved to object to the lengthy and unsafe diversion which includes two crossings of the busy Church Road/Station Street. Parish Council representatives have met with Network Rail contractors on the bridge and would support the alternative of a temporary footbridge alongside the current bridge while it is demolished and replaced.

The community event, which will also include details regarding the Wistow Road and Newton Lane/Leicester Road bridges will be held on:

Tuesday 23 May 2023 from 18:00 to 19:00 at Kibworth Grammar School Hall, School Road, Kibworth, LE8 0JE.

Please see the attached letter from Network Rail which is being sent to nearby residents shortly.
